The Fallen: Chapter 1

Chapter 1

"Emma!" shouted my teacher as he slapped his ruler on my desk. I jumped and looked at him. He frowned at me and the whole class started to burst out in laughter. "Sorry." I said looking at my hands and the paper that was under my hands and jumped at the picture. It was of some guy having his back facing me and staring at the sea as it crashed on the rocks. "I know you love to draw, but please don't do it in my class." said my teacher as he walked to his desk and went back to talking.

My best friend Rennie nudged my shoulder and smiled at me. "Did it again!" he snickered and got up and packed up his stuff as the bell cut off my teacher from talking. We both ran out of the class and to the lunch room. "I kinda keep blacking out now-a-days." I said running my fingers through my black hair as I grabbed an apple juice, and grabbed a tray of food. "Yeah but that's going to get you in trouble." Rennie said punching in his pin number and walked and sat down at a table. I set down my tray and placed my notebook on my lap. "But there's a party tonight, want to come?" Rennie asked messing with the peircing that was in his lip. I closed my eyes and smiled. "Who's party is it?" I asked unwrapping my hamburger and taking a bite out of it.

"Mileys'." I almost choked at the mention of the name. "M-Miley?" I asked, I remembered all the things that she did to me in our past times in elementry school and middle school. "Yeah, I know that you and her don't get along that well but you need to have fun once in awhile." Rennie said taking out a small black comb and re-spiking his over gelled hair. "I know. I'll think about it." I said poking him in the cheek and messing up his hair. "Hey! Oh and you know how you always have reasons for the pictures that you always draw?" he said pointing to the notebook that was in my lap. "Yeah?" I said taking it out and putting it on the table and flipped to the page.

"What was the reason of this one?" he asked touching the shading that I did. "I don't know. I've been having the dream of him. but the dream's in black and white. I keep running to him but I can never touch him, cause I always wake up before its over." I said and then in a split second my notebook was snatched from the table. "Miley! Give it back!" I shouted looking at her. She smiled and puckered her cherry red lips and flipped through my book. "Well, these are the most stupidest drawnings I've ever seen." she laughed and showed her snobby friends. I slapped her hands making her drop it and she gasped. "God! Calm down Little girl!" she said flipping her blond hair over her shoulder. i crouched down and picked up my book.

"So Rennie, you coming to the party tonight?" she asked rubbing his shoulder. "Maybe." he said moving his shoulder as telling her to stop touching him. "That bitch!" I hissed watching her walk away. "Okay I change my mind. Lets go bowling." he said grabbing my arm and smiled at me.

I changed into some blue jeans and slipped on a pink sweatshirt. I looked at myself in the mirror and fixed my short hair and slipped a pink and purple mini bow in my hair and walked downstairs. "Where are you going Emma?" asked my mother as she looked up from her computer. "Bowling with Rennie." I said slipping my phone in my jacket. "Okay, Just be home by 11 or when the place closes." she said smiling and letting me leave. I stood by the rode and waited for Rennie to drive up and picked me up. I rocked on my heels and started to hum. "Stop!" shouted a voice. I turned my head and saw the house across the street. I saw shadows clash with one another fighting. My heart started to beat faster and faster.

Then something inside me told me to run to the house. "Hey are you okay?!" I asked knocking on the door. "Shut the fuck up!" shouted the voice and the sound of a door opening caught my attion. I leaned over and saw someone limping out of the house. "Wait! Hey are you okay?" I asked running up to him. His clothes were all torn and bloody. He looked at me. I gasped and covered my mouth. His firey red hair was all messed up, his left eye was swollen shut with blood running down that side of his face and his none swollen eye was bright green.

"You need to come with me to get help." I said softly grabbing his arm and slowly dragged him back to my house. "Mom! Get the first aid kit." I shouted opening the door and setting the boy down in a chair. "Emma who is this?" she asked running to the bathroom and coming back with the first aid kit. "I saw him coming out of the house next door." I said pulling up a chair and sitting next to the quiet boy. My mother told me to run a cloth under some warm water. I did so and washed off the blood as my mother fixed the boys cuts. "Whats your name boy?" my mom asked as I saw that his free green eye was watching me. I walked away to wash all the blood out of the cloth and make it clean again.

"Alex." he said in a sothing voice. His voice ran a shiver up my spine and almost made me melt. "Emma, I was waiting for you for over 5 minutes in my car. Why werent outside?" Renni asked walking into the house. "Sorry." I said pointing to Alex as he looked at Rennie. "Oh damn you look horrible!" Rennie said bluntly. "Hey don't say that." I growled punching him on the shoulder. "Don't worry Emma go have fun. I'll take care of Alex." my mom said smiling. I nodded and set the blood stained cloth in a hamper and walked out of the house.

"So tell me about that boy." Rennie said as I watched my bowling ball roll down the lane. "What about him?" I asked trying to avoid the question. "Well I don't think you could beat him up. What happended to him?" Rennie asked ripping apart his pretzel. "Fine. I found him stumbling out of the house next to us and I heard yelling." I said sitting next to him and seeing all of the pins knocking down.
